Hear about NaNoWriMo and the importance of revision from author John Green:

My comments on the video:
- I am also a huge fan of revision. First drafts can take me as much as a week to begin and another week to write. My first draft is hard ever my best draft and I have even got gotten half way through a paper before deciding to scrap it and use a different idea.
- I've done NaNoWriMo myself and I can completely agree with him, not my best piece of work, but it taught me a lot to work on a different scale and with a different medium than I am used to. Sadly, I never returned to it to do revision.
- I actually liked his metaphor about first drafts being like digging out the clay and revision being like sculpting, even if he didn't seem that fond of it.
How do you guys feel about revision? How do you feel about NaNoWriMo? Have you ever participated in NaNoWriMo and are you doing it this year?
