This is a great question.
The Writing Center staff is comprised of undergraduate, masters, and PhD students in a variety of fields. They are paid and do not volunteer. You can find out more about their degree programs by looking at the bios listed on the schedule (go to "Schedule an Appointment," login, and click on staff members' names to read their bios).
