At the Writing Center we require that you make an appoinment with a consultant and engage in the work on your paper collaboratively. It is our goal to help all of our clients improve as writers, and that requries engagement with your own writing. If it is a substantial paper, or if you really do not want to put the time in to work on it with a consultant (which is completely understandable), we do have a list of editors who charge for their services. With these editors you would be able to email your paper and they would look through it, fix surface-level errors, point out confusing or problematic sections of your paper, and send it back to you. The easiest way to find this list is to do a search for editors.
This is something I also want to know. I am currently finalizing my PhD dissertation and am under a tight deadline to submit it. It seems that making an appointment with a counselor and then working one on one will take quite some time. So I hope to hire a professional editor to check the writing for me (grammar, language, etc.).
I tried to search this website for the list of editors, but haven't been able to find it. Could you provide more detailed information?
We don't maintain the list of editors on the website b/c it is constantly changing. However, you can call or email the center and request it and we'll email it to you. You can also drop by the center and we'll print out the most up-to-date version for you.
Where is the editor list????
I have been searching for "editors" who can charge for proofreading....but didn't find any on this website
